Dowels are obvious material for building model columns, but they have other uses too. I keep a very wide assortment of dowel on hand, as well as the handles to dead paintbrushes. When kept long, they serve some obvious uses for building model pieces, like columns. When sliced thin on a band saw, I have also used them for seats of stools and chairs and wagon wheels. I’ve built some out with texture to make tree trunks. I’ve taken narrower dowel and cut it to the right scale length so I could round off an end with sandpaper and use them to represent par cans on booms that would appear on stage... I made the pipe for the booms out of toothpicks, but that's a different post. Add as favorites (71) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 569
